A veteran of the acoustic folk world, Ellis is known for his impeccable vocals, the stories he paints, and his wonderful, charismatic persona.  Ellis is one of the best songwriters on the circuit, where he captivates his audiences with wit and showmanship.  Some of his songs have been featured on major motion pictures (Me, Myself, and Irene and Shallow Hal). Ellis is always smiling, always welcoming, always armed with his quick wit, but most importantly, a master at the craft of connecting with his audiences' emotions. His huge fan base is well-deserved.

Ellis has toured both on his own and with friend/compatriot Vance Gilbert. He has just released the excellent CD “American Jukebox Fables,” produced by Flynn,  to rave reviews.
